Charles Russell has confirmed that it is in consultation with nine staff members, with the employees at risk representing just under 2 per cent of the firm’s total headcount.
A spokesperson for the firm said it was in the early stages of a consultation period, but declined to disclose whether the employees in question were lawyers or support staff.
It is also unclear when the consultation started and when it is due to conclude, as well as whether the possible redundancies are limited to the London office, with the firm also hosting bases in Cheltenham, Guildford, Geneva and Bahrain.
The firm had an average of 542 staff including partners in the 2010-11 financial year, according to The Lawyer UK 200 2011. Of that number, 331 were fee-earners, 225 were lawyers and 95 were partners.
The consultation was first reported on legal website RollonFriday.
