Centrica names GC for energy division

Centrica has appointed David Isenegger as general counsel to its Centrica Energy division.

Isenegger will join the company’s office in Windsor on 1 November, having previously been managing counsel, exploration and production for Shell UK, based in Aberdeen.

He replaces Peter Roberts, who left to join Ashurst’s global energy team earlier this year.

Isenegger commented: “Centrica’s people are first rate and the breadth of Centrica Energy’s business offers a real professional challenge. I’m inheriting a strong team with a record of business delivery.”

He will be responsible for a team of 20, handling regulatory, corporate and transactional work, and will report to Centrica Energy managing director Mark Hanafin.

At Shell he has worked on major projects in Dubai, Iran, Kazakhstan and Qatar. Before joining Shell he was based in Johannesburg, working on gas-to-liquid projects in the Middle East and West Africa for Sasol Group.

Isenegger has also practised in Calgary, Canada with the firm McCarthy Tétrault and has worked as a legal officer with the UN Security Council in Geneva.

Shell has yet to announce a replacement, but is expected to fill the position with an internal recruit on an interim basis.
