CEDR report 35 per cent rise in mediations

CEDR Solve, the dispute resolution service for the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) handled a record 631 cases last year.

This represents a 35 per cent hike in the number of mediations handled by the group.

CEDR reports that commercial mediations rose by 24 per cent from 387 to 478 in 2003.

During 2002-2003 mediations in the employment sector rose from 26 to 56, in personal injury from 17 to 34, in property from 26 to 53, and the public sector from 40 to 54.

However, the figures do not indicate how many of these mediations were successful.
