The Frankfurt office of Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw Gaedertz has hired Clifford Chance Pünder's head of debt capital markets Joerg Wulfken
He is the third German banking partner to join Mayer Brown from Clifford Chance in the space of nine months. Wulfken joins the firm on 1 August, hard on the heels of former Clifford Chance colleagues Manfred Heemann and Ingo Kleutgens. Kleutgens, a structured finance and private equity partner, joined Mayer Brown in January this year, shortly after the arrival of corporate finance partner Heemann in October 2001. "Wulfken is one of the most respected experts in this area in Germany," said Reinhart Lange, managing partner of Mayer Brown. Wulfken joined Clifford Chance's Frankfurt office just two years ago, after leaving an in-house position at Bankgesellschaft Berlin AG which he held for seven years. Prior to that he was in the London office of Clifford Chance. The firm has been focused on rapidly building its banking and finance practice in Germany. As well as bringing on board the partners from Clifford Chance, banking partner Phil Brandes has also been relocated from the New York office.
