CC not first UK firm in Indonesia

I refer to the article "Clifford Chance to open in Indonesia" (The Lawyer, 31 January).

It mentions that Clifford Chance is the first UK law firm to venture into the troubled region.

But that is not quite correct.

Norton Rose established a presence in Indonesia almost five years ago, in alliance with the leading Indonesian law firm Lubis Ganie Surowidjojo (LGS).

We have two senior lawyers stationed in Jakarta, John McLean, based there since 1998 and preceded by Keith Sandilands, and the recently-recruited Timothy Pitt.

We have extensive experience of working in Indonesia and we believe that our presence on this ground since 1995 gives us an edge in terms of Indonesia-related work.
