Clifford Chance has named corporate finance partner Anthony Oldfield as head of its São Paulo office following the departure of office head Stephen Hood.
As revealed on www.thelawyer.com yesterday (5 September), capital markets partner Hood left the magic circle firm after 29 years to open an office for Mayer Brown in the Brazilian city. Hood had headed Clifford Chance's São Paulo operation since 1999, after also serving as managing partner in Hong Kong and New York.
Oldfield has worked at Clifford Chance for 20 years, leading the firm's New York Latin America team for the past five. He has also spent time in the firm's London and Singapore offices.
During his time focusing on the Latin American region Oldfield acted for a variety of companies, issuers and underwriters. His practice focuses on international transactions involving both debt and equity issues and structured finance products.
His main area of focus related to cross-border mergers and acquisitions, including takeovers, joint ventures and venture capital transactions.
