Clifford Chance has named Chris Davies as head of its City tax, pensions and employment (TPE).
Tax partner Davies will work alongside global TPE chief David Harkness, who was re-elected to the top job for a four-year term in 2009.
The role, which has a four-year term, was created as part of a review of practice groups at the magic circle firm that saw several management-level roles split between partners, allowing them greater freedom to continue fee earning.
Harkness said: “Our market leading TPE practice is integral to many of the complex national and international deals that Clifford Chance advises on. I’m confident that under Chris’s leadership the London practice will continue to go from strength to strength.”
Davies added: “Tax, pensions and employment are all areas where our clients are facing unprecedented challenges. I look forward to working with partners and lawyers in London to help our clients meet these challenges, and to strengthen further our position as the advisor of choice.”
