Clyde & Co has picked up a former Clifford Chance litigation partner as a consultant.
Stephen Lewis is due to retire from the magic circle firm at the end of October, after being a partner at Clifford Chance since 1985. On his move to Clyde & Co he will specialise in reinsurance arbitration
He leaves behind an insurance/reinsurance litigation team at Clifford Chance of seven partners headed by Terry O’Neil and Nicholas Munday.
While at Clifford Chance Lewis lost the first successful negligence action ever brought against a reinsurance broker.
His client, broker Johnson &Higgins, was found liable for damages totalling some £42.2m during the 2001 case brought by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
