Clifford Chance has relocated the head of its worldwide project group to Frankfurt in a bid to strengthen its UK law capability in Germany.
Rodney Short has transferred from the Washington DC office, which he set up in January 1999. In Frankfurt, Short will focus on expanding the firm's project finance capability into the power sector. He will also work closely with partners Riko Vanezis and Beda Wortmann on public private partnerships. Frankfurt managing partner Michael Weller said: "Project finance is an instrument to structure a particular project, while isolating it from a government project. It allows a country to improve its infrastructure without increasing its debt. We want to take advantage of the current climate where this method of financing is growing."
