Clifford Chance's Brussels office has poached a partner from a top Belgian-Dutch firm.
Axel Miller joins Clifford Chance's Belgian law practice as a partner from Stibbe Simont Monahan Duhot.
Miller is a corporate lawyer whose expertise includes acquisitions, IPOs and business reorganisations. He was a partner at Stibbe Simont from 1996 and was a member of the executive committee of its Brussels office.
Yves Herinckx, managing partner at Clifford Chance's Brussels office, says: "Axel brings with him an impressive portfolio of clients and strong contacts in the investment banking community.
"His recruitment is in line with the long-term strategy of the Brussels office, which is to expand our M&A capability in order to take advantage of the growing pan-European M&A markets."
The appointment of Miller continues Clifford Chance's expansion in the Belgian capital. Last year saw the firm in a protracted battle with Rowe & Maw as it tried to lure four Brussels corporate partners.
In the end only Simon Baxter elected to join Clifford Chance, in November.
Clifford Chance's Belgian law group focuses on mergers and acquisitions, commercial, banking, property and litigation. Miller's arrival takes the group's numbers to three partners within the seven-partner Brussels office.
