CC beefs up China offering with swathe of hires

Clifford Chance has moved to strengthen its Asian corporate practice with the recruitment of five Hong Kong-based associates.

The recruits come from a range of firms, including local, Australian and US firms, and are admitted in jurisdictions including Hong Kong, Australia, Taiwan and New York.

The firms recruited from include US firms Jones Day and Baker & McKenzie, local firms Woo Kwan Lee & Lo, Johnson Stokes & Master, Australia’s Corrs Chambers Westgarth,

Clifford Chance’s Asia head of corporate Roger Denny said: “The strength of the M&A and funds markets across the region has contributed towards an uplift in activity for our Asia practice.

“Deal volumes over the course of the year have been very healthy, with the Asia-Pacific region showing an increase in M&A activity of around 35 per cent in the first nine months of the year.”
