Case of the week

The Japanese finance house Nomura International has been taken to an employment tribunal by Isabelle Terrillon, one of its female City traders, who claims that she had been subjected to a barrage of sexual harassment, discrimination and ultimately unfair dismissal. The tribunal heard how Japanese bosses told Terrillon to wear 'short, tight skirts' while UK colleagues told her to 'strip down and give a massage' in front of clients. Terrillon described a 'male-dominated' environment where pornography was left on tables and where she was virtually ignored by her Japanese superiors.

The hearing continues.
