Case of the week

McDonald’s v Customers. The fast food giant will face the wrath of 20 UK customers who claim to have been burned by its tea or coffee in a case that is similar to the actions brought against the burger chain across the Atlantic.

Manchester High Court is due to hear allegations that McDonald’s knowingly served drinks at dangerously high temperatures causing injuries. In a statement, McDonald’s argues that all hot drinks bear the words ‘caution hot’ but Adrienne de Vos, a solicitor representing 13 of the victims, argues that customers do not realise how dangerously hot the drinks are.
