Nelsons" />Elsewhere in the East Midlands, the largest law firm merger in the region occurred when criminal and business defence firm Cartwright King took the entire business defence and criminal law teams of former rival Nelsons.
Sixty-three staff, including seven partners, moved to Cartwright King's offices in Nottingham, Leicester and Derby, more than doubling the firm's numbers.
The merger was the result of a deal struck between the two firms in February. It follows Nelsons' decision to cease offering criminal and business defence services.
Nelsons chief executive Tim Hastings said the criminal practice group had not grown, while the others in the firm have. He claimed that the firm's criminal practitioners worked in a low-margin, high-volume market and would "be better served by a firm that seeks to specialise in that area".
The move brought the total number of lawyers at Cartwright King to 75.
