After an equal spread between laterals and internal promotions into the partnership for 2005 06 and 2004-05, in 2006-07 laterals have been out of favour at Shepherd & Wedderburn with not a single outside hire. Real estate-related practice groups have made the most gains in internal promotions; conversely, corporate has seen three laterals compared with one internal during the three-year period. For the second year running the firm has failed to promote a woman to the partnership.
