After two good years for internal promotions, when a total of 14 associates were made up to partners, 2006-07 saw just two of Nabarro’s homegrown talents promoted. Lateral hiring continued, with another nine partners recruited, many from the level of associate at rival firms. It was the second year that the firm recruited nine lateral partners and a big push is on to boost the corporate department, especially its AIM capabilities. Once renowned for its real estate capability – an area that historically has been the most heavily promoted – the firm is less likely to promote associates into that department. Its related groups of planning and construction each secured one new promotion in the past year.
