For Irwin Mitchell 2006-07 was a tumultuous year. First the partnership took on nine laterals through a merger with niche personal injury firm Alexander Harris. Next the firm lost an 18-strong workforce in Sheffield due to the Government’s controversial legal aid proposals.

The partnership, however, is to continue its recruitment drive, with the Manchester office planning to double its size to around 100 staff as its adds matrimonial, private client, commercial litigation and investment services to its existing personal injury and clinical negligence work.
