In the past four years Howard Kennedy has favoured lateral hires to expand its partnership, with 25 external hires compared with 13 internal appointments. Only one of the laterals had been female until 2006-07, when the firm hired an equal number of men and women, although there were no internal female appointments.  Property remains the key sector for internal promotions, followed by corporate/commercial, but on the lateral side the firm bolstered its media and entertainment practice with three hires in three years, with corporate bagging five.
