Halliwells has promoted 38 to the partnership, reflecting the North West firm’s rapid expansion drive. In 2006-07 the firm made up 18 partners, compared with two laterals, with seven of those promotions taking place in Manchester and six in London. These were concentrated within the banking, corporate/tax and litigation groups.
In contrast, the previous year the firm made almost double the number of laterals as promotions, although the bulk of the 41 lateral hires came from the 29 insurance partners who joined the firm from James Chapman & Co.
