Field Fisher Waterhouse returned to its focus on lateral hires in 2006-07, bringing in nine external partners compared with six internal promotions. When examined over three years, prospects for home-grown lawyers are even dimmer, with 14 internal appointments as opposed to 22 laterals. The sector to benefit most out of the latest promotions was IP and technology, scooping all six. Technology was also the focus of the firm’s lateral hires, accounting for seven in the past three years, while corporate received five and real estate four.
