Cobbetts has grown considerably over the past three years, with three mergers accounting for the 31 lateral hires made in 2004-05. But the firm made no lateral hires and no internal promotions in 2006-07.
The firm has said, however, that it is planning to adopt a new, more flexible corporate structure from the start of the 2007-08 financial year, a move that it claims will provide promotion opportunities across the firm. Over the past three years litigation, corporate and property were the most heavily promoted practice areas.
