Edinburgh-based Brodies went from strength to strength in 2006-07 following its second law firm takeover. A seven-partner team joined from Bishops Solicitors in August 2006, shortly after the arrival of four partners from commercial property firm Fyfe Ireland in November 2005. The takeovers compound the firm’s focus on external recruitment, with only three internal promotions in 2006-07 and none the previous year. The extra firepower has been shared evenly between the Glasgow and Edinburgh offices, with the real estate group gaining the most.
