Since its demerger from Bevan Ashford almost three years ago, Bevan Brittan has had a patchy period financially, with the firm leaning heavily on lateral hires for growth.
In the last three years the firm has made 18 lateral hires, compared with six internal promotions. Opportunities for associates to enter the partnership are, however, on the up, particularly in commercial and construction.
London, Bristol and Birmingham all saw promotions in 2006, but London is the hotspot for laterals, taking seven of the new recruits in the last two years.
