Berrymans Lace Mawer has slowed the growth of its partnership to a crawl. In 2003 14 associates were made up to partner. That figure has fallen year-onyear to hit a low of just two in 2006-07, a drop of more than 80 per cent.
The number of lateral hires has also fallen since the firm’s 2003 merger with insurance boutique Jacksons, which added seven to the partnership.  Personal injury remains the firm’s key focus, accounting for 11 of the 15 internal promotions over the last three years and two of the five lateral hires.
