Lovells has made 43 internal promotions and 23 lateral hires over three years. The biggest sectors have been litigation, which accounts for 10 appointments in three years, three of which were laterals. Litigation appointments reached a high in 2004-05 with six, four of which have been internals. Corporate has regularly made up two partners a year for the past three years, but that has been supplemented by a total of six laterals in that time. Banking has appointed eight new partners in three years, half of whom have been internal. IP punches above its weight in terms of partner admissions. It has appointed eight in three years – the same as banking – but all have been internal. On the other hand, energy/projects has slowed its rate of partner growth. It appointed four in 2003-04 (three internal), three in 2004-05 (two internal) and only one lateral in 2005-06. Real estate, meanwhile, experienced a promotions desert in 2003- 04 and 2004-05, but in 2005-06 it made up two. It has not had a lateral hire in living memory. |
