Eversheds has promoted 51 from within the firm in the past three years, compared with 30 lateral hires.
Corporate has been heavily backed, with 14 internal promotions in three years and nine laterals in total – although with a notable decrease in 2005-06. In 2003-04 the firm made four internal and four lateral appointments in corporate; in 2004-05 seven internals and four laterals; but in 2005-06 only three internals and a sole lateral.
The HR/employment group has expanded mostly from internal promotions – 10 in three years compared with three laterals in that time. The best year for HR group promotions was 2004-05, when six internal candidates got the nod.
Eversheds has always struggled to build London organically, so it is unsurprising that it has attracted the highest number of laterals over three years compared with other regions.
