There has been plenty of upheaval at
Denton Wilde Sapte (DWS), which
has been reflected in the partnership
appointments. A stream of partners
left the firm over the course of 2004-
05, and this has fed through to the
promotion process.
In three years, DWS has made 26
internal promotions compared with
12 laterals, and the emphasis on
internal promotions looks like
continuing as the firm seeks to replace
departees with more junior partners.
There were certainly plenty of internal
promotions in TMT after the
departure of Simon Levine’s group to
DLA Piper. One was promoted at the
beginning of 2004-05 and three more
just five months later.
Banking has yielded at least one
promotion a year for the past three
years, while corporate also scores
highly, with three in 2005-06 and one
in both 2004-05 and 2003-04.
