Canadian firm Gowlings has hired a four-partner team from Cobbetts’ equity capital markets team for its London office.
Charles Bond, Sefton Collett, Dominic Prentis and Andrew Wright - who led Cobbetts’ public markets team - will all join Gowlings’ London office as partners and will bring with them Susan Johnston and David Brennan, both directors at Cobbetts.
The team will join Gowlings on 1 March, as part of the firm’s energy, infrastructure and mining industry group.
In a statement Gowlings’ London managing partner Andrew Oppenheim said: “Their practice is very complementary to our Canadian equity capital markets and natural resources practices.”
Earlier this week (21 January 2012) Cobbetts and DWF announced that they had broken off merger talks in light of uncertain market conditions.
Cobbetts’ head of equity capital markets team Daniel O’Gorman said: “We’re sorry that Andrew and our colleagues are leaving and wish them the best of luck with their new global venture.”
