Cayman firm Campbells moved outside the jurisdiction for the first time in 2013, opening a small British Virgin Islands (BVI) office. The office is staffed by just two lawyers, but Campbells has plans to increase numbers.
Growth last year was 'neutral', the firm says, but the focus was on infrastructural change. As well as the BVI, Campbells invested in new premises in Cayman and a new company management system.
Funds specialist Susan Lock joined the firm as a partner from Ogier, where she was a counsel.
Work highlights included acting on three liquidations in various roles, notably for the joint provisional liquidators of Arcapita Bank subsidiary AIHL.
Outside work, partner Guy Manning climbed Mount Everest as part of a challenge to conquer the seven highest mountains on Earth in aid of the Cayman Islands Cancer Society.
