One of CMS Cameron McKenna’s leading energy partners is retiring to take the reins as deputy vice president of the Law Society.
Fiona Woolf, who will take up her new role at the Law Society on May 1, is one of five partners retiring from CMS as the firm makes up seven lawyers to equity compared to six new partners in 2003.
The list of departees includes commercial partners John Newbegin and Richard Taylor, corporate partner Mike Rich, alongside banking specialist Julian Ogley.
All will retire from the partnership effective April 30 though Rich, Woolf, who will take over as Law Society president in September 2006, and Taylor will continue at the firm as consultants.
Among the new partners are lawyers in each of energy and projects, insurance and reinsurance, pensions, and technology groups. The real estate department saw two of its number made up.
The firm also made up the Warsaw based energy lawyer Dariusz Mioduski. Last year Czech based lawyer Hilary McDowell was promoted to the partnership.
