Camerons targets US work with Simmons hire

CMS Cameron McKenna has made a strategic hire into its capital markets practice with the appointment of Simmons & Simmons US securities partner Daniel Winterfeldt as head of its international capital markets group.

Winterfeldt, who left Simmons in December, will join Camerons next month as an equity partner. He will run the 40-partner group and have a role spanning both debt and equity capital markets.

Camerons equity capital markets head Mike Jones told The Lawyer that Winterfeldt’s US capability was key to his appointment.

“Most debt or equity issues, including those by UK companies and across our offices in Central and Eastern Europe, have a US tranche,” he said. “Having an integrated approach gives us a competitive advantage.

“On the equity side we’ve traditionally had a strong corporate business acting for issuers. Daniel has great contacts with underwriters and investment banks.”

Winterfeldt commented: “I was drawn to the firm’s strength in international capital markets across its Western Europe and CEE network, providing an excellent platform for expansion. It has a fantastic team already in place and I look forward to helping build the business further.”

Simmons thanked Winterfeldt for his contribution to the firm.
