CMS Cameron McKenna has made a rare lateral hire, poaching London-based Mayer Brown property partner Melville Rodrigues.
Rodrigues specialises in the formation of real estate funds and handling real estate transactions.
Camerons head of real estate Edward Benzecry has pledged to expand the firm's capacity in this area, with a particular focus on pan-European funds based in London.
He said: "There's been an explosion in the last few years of real estate funds and they've become a very significant part of the market. Melville's arrival is a further step in our strategy to establish a reputation in this area."
Rodrigues has been a partner at Mayer Brown since 2000, when he joined from niche property firm McGuinness Finch.
Despite ;the ;property downturn, Camerons has shown a willingness to invest in its real estate practice this year. In March the firm promoted three associates to partner in the group, all in Eastern Europe.
