Cameron McKenna has tempted a Freshfields lawyer to join its capital markets group. Capital markets and structured finance specialist Ashley Painter has joined the firm as a partner, leaving its City rival where he was a senior associate. He has also worked for JP Morgan and Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken. His appointment is part of a general push to increase the size of the capital markets department. Two new assistants have been taken on in anticipation of Painter's arrival. Head of the group Ruth Finch says: "The firm is gearing up for an increase in corporate and project debt financing work and development of the increasing structured finance activity already seen. "In addition, I predict a growth in demand for capital markets advice in central and eastern Europe, a major area of business for Cameron McKenna."
