Top 20 law firm CMS Cameron McKenna has extended its overseas trainee solicitor secondment programme to its fledgling Ukraine office.
Camerons offers a total of 13 overseas seats during each rotation. Such seats are housed in the firms offices in Bucharest, Budapest, Moscow, Prague, Sofia and Warsaw. The Ukraine seat will be in banking.
Vivienne Ball head of recruitment at Camerons told Lawyer2B.com: At any one time 11 per cent of our trainee are abroad. If you include the seats in our regional offices and all our client secondments just over a quarter of all our trainees are out at any one time. This is seen as key to the trainees development as lawyers and is strongly encouraged among each intake.
UK-based seats outside of Camerons London office include those in Aberdeen, Bristol and Edinburgh as well as 11 client secondments.
Camerons launched an office in Kyiv last September making it the first UK-headquartered law firm to open in Ukraine. The office comprises five partners and 32 lawyers and already handled work for clients such as HypoReal, Eurohypo and West LB.
