CMS Cameron McKenna is losing high-profile and highly-rated insurance and reinsurance partner Mark Elborne to an in-house position at US conglomerate GE.
Elborne is relocating to Kansas City to become general counsel of his major client GE ERC, the insurance and reinsurance division of GE. Elborne has been advising GE on the UK legal aspects of the World Trade Center disaster as co-outside counsel, along with Clifford Chance’s Nicholas Munday.
Elborne said this and other lucrative work for GE ERC would stay with Camerons’ insurance and reinsurance team after he moves to Kansas City next month.
At GE ERC Elborne will oversee a senior legal team of over a dozen lawyers, as well as lawyers in GE ERC’s branch offices across the US and in Asia, Europe and Latin America.
Elborne said he had decided to move to Kansas City because GE ERC had offered him “the top job for a specialist insurance and reinsurance lawyer”.
