Camerons embraces new technology with text messages for future trainees

Head of graduate recruitment Michelle Mason said the tactic had been well received.

"We used the medium as a trial on this occasion. After we get some feedback on the kind of information people would like to receive in a text from us, we may consider using it again. SMS provides us with an ideal channel to keep in touch with our future trainees on an informal basis until they join the firm."

Camerons is not the first firm to use text messaging as a recruitment device. In Oct-ober 2001, Weightmans used text messages to give applicants information about the firm. A spokesman said at the time: "If you're looking at the audience we're trying to target, text messaging is a large part of their lives."
