Camerons cuts 73 jobs

CMS Cameron McKenna has laid off 73 staff at the end of its redundancy consultation.

The firm warned that up to 80 jobs could be lost when it launched the review in May. Of the 73 cuts, 26 were fee-earners and 33 were voluntary redundancies. The firm attracted criticism for cutting its redundancy package months before starting the review.

The payout was reduced from two to one week’s wages for each year of employment. Camerons has also launched a flexible-working scheme that allows staff to be put on sabbatical or a four-day week.
