CMS Cameron McKenna has decided to close its last US outpost in Washington DC after radically downsizing the office in July this year.

CMS managing partner Dick Tyler told The Lawyer: “At the time we’d hoped to be able to restructure the office around the projects team servicing one particular piece of work. But we haven’t been able to retain the personnel we’d need to do that job.”

The original restructure would have left the office with six staff, but within weeks it became clear that the office would not be viable in that form. It will close at the end of this month.

Last week two former Camerons US partners, Joel Zipp and Greg Williams resurfaced at Bracewell & Patterson.

Camerons’ Toronto office is now the firm’s only presence in North America.
