CMS Cameron McKenna has bolstered its eastern European offering with the capture of the head of strategy from one of Poland’s leading telecoms operators.
Ireneusz Piecuch, who joins Camerons as a Warsaw-based TMT partner, will focus on developing the firm’s regional practice, advising clients on outsourcing deals. He will also work alongside the firm’s head of international TMT John Fitzpatrick to further develop the relationships in central and eastern Europe.
Before joining the top 20 firm, he had been general counsel and then head of strategy for Poland’s leading telecoms operator TPSA. Previously he had been regional counsel at IBM.
“We’re very pleased to welcome Irek to the firm,” said Fitzpatrick. “He brings with him a wealth of experience and industry knowledge in the TMT sector and we look forward to him taking a leading role in expanding our already considerable expertise and capability in the region.”
Camerons had already strengthened its CEE practice with the December hire of corporate partner Eva Talmacsi. Based in London, Talmacsi will focus on a range of private and public M&A, private equity and venture capital investments in CEE in particular.
Talmacsi began her career at Hungarian state holding company MNV before stints at Clifford Chance in Budapest and New York, Debevoise & Plimpton in New York and Allen & Overy in London.
