  • To all those commentators taking a swipe at Exeter. Yes there are those who are 'rah' etc but the majority aren't. It is absolute rubbish to say that you have to have the 'right' accent - I was born and raised in Rotherham, South Yorkshire and I have managed to get where I am "nah wi mi yorkshire spake."

Also there were some extremely bright students there, granted some weren't, but that's the same at any university.

As regards 'us' Exonians being unpleasant - don't be ridiculous. Most people I know from Ex are fantastic and I have made friends for life despite being a 'dirty northerner'...

  • "Exonians" - talk about proving everyone's point. Definition of "Exonians" is surely "Wannabe Etonians" or "Ex Etonian who was too thick to go to Oxbridge".

Also, why is LSE on this list - you cant even get in there to study law unless you are a Cypriot or Middle Eastern national whose parents are loaded beyond imagination.

  • Re: being too thick to go to Oxbridge
Surely that's the definition of every student who went to any top university instead of Oxbridge.

As a Law student graduating from Exeter, I feel that I have a strong degree that employers will take seriously. Exeter was my first choice, because I found it to be a friendly place with a fantastic atmosphere, I have been able to get involved in many different things and had some really fantastic opportunities that I do not think I would have gotten elsewhere. Exeter is high up on student satisfaction and involvement for a reason.

In any event, Exeter can stand on its own merits and I do not need to defend it, people who did not go to Exeter cannot say with authority what Exeter is like based on one or two people they may have met from here.

  • As a soon-to-be Exeter graduate, I don't feel I need to defend Exeter or its reputation - it stands on its own merits, which is reflected on its ranking in the table. You can believe what you want to of its clientèle but if you're open minded enough and not prejudiced then you won't judge each person by the one or two that you may have met. I've found Exeter a very nice place to be, come across some people I don't like and many that I do; and I'm leaving with a degree from a highly-reputable university and many employable skills - do I care what one or two of you think? Not really, no.
