Calling all City solicitors

When Ashley Simpkins (Enough Is Enough, 12 June) reads my election statement he will note the reference to the "last chance saloon" for the Law Society.

If I really am the "powerful figure" Simpkins describes, I hope that both he and the electorate will vote to give me the chance to show how the "last chance" can be turned into the "best chance" of a reformed Law Society and a reunited profession.

Can I also ask Mr Simpkins and other City solicitors rumoured to be mooting a breakaway body, to identify themselves, so that David McIntosh - who is a City solicitor - and I can invite them to the new Law Society City Forum, which we intend to establish when we are elected president and vice-president.
