Cahill Gordon & Reindel is transferring its Paris lawyers to local firm Lussan Brouillaud as the US giant finally opens its London office.
Head of the Paris office Freddy Dressen, two lawyers and five support staff are moving to Lussan Brouillaud while US finance specialist Jim Robinson is relocating to the UK to be the sole partner at Cahills' City office.
The firm first announced it was planning to open a London office late last year (The Lawyer, 11 October).
Ken Orce, a member of Cahills' executive committee says: "The City is seen as the financial centre of Europe, so although we wanted to have a European presence, there was no point in us staying in Paris too. The move of staff to Lussans took place in a seamless way."
Established in 1928, Cahills is believed to have been the first US firm to open an office in Paris.
