Burges Salmon scoops Pensions Regulator lawyer

Bristol firm Burges Salmon has appointed Clive Pugh as partner in its pensions team.

The appointment is seen as a major coup for Burges Salmon as the firm persuaded Pugh to re-join private practice from the Pensions Regulator.

Pugh joined The Pensions Regulator's predecessor OPRA in 2002. He sat on the corporate risk management team and worked with the industry to help it to adapt to the provisions of the Pensions Act 2004.

Burges Salmon pensions partner Tim Illston said Pugh's appointment marked the beginning of a growth period for the pensions practice.

He said: "With Clive coming on board there will be new areas we can cover and we will have a greater capacity to do work on a national scale."
