St Louis-based Bryan Cave is poised to merge with New York firm Robinson Silverman Pearce Aronsohn & Berman
On 24 May partners at Bryan Cave voted in favour of the merger, but those at Robinson Silverman are yet to vote. Although neither of the firms will comment on the proposed merger at this stage, a source at Robinson Silverman said the vote was set to take place on Friday night (7 June). If the merger goes ahead, the new firm will have more than 800 lawyers in 18 offices around the world. While it is expected that Robinson Silverman partners will vote in favour of the deal, negotiations are still at a "delicate stage", according to a source at Bryan Cave. "Even the vote may not actually happen until Monday," he said. "At the moment, the whole thing is very fluid. It changes with the wind." Bryan Cave has 650 lawyers worldwide in 18 offices, including four in the Middle East, three in South East Asia and one in London. Robinson Silverman has just one office in New York, which houses 170 lawyers. Although the New York office will keep the Robinson Silverman name for a transitional period, it will eventually be known as Bryan Cave.
