This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Browne Jacobson has reported a record 37.4 per cent increase in average profit per equity partner (PEP) and a 12 per cent rise in turnover to £27m.
As first reported on www.thelawyer.com (13 July), PEP rose from last year's £230,000 to this year's £316,000.
Managing partner Brian Smith said the firm was aiming to be "the best firm in the Midlands".
The firm's growth was driven by a particularly good year for the corporate market, and generally Browne Jacobson is starting to enjoy the fruits of a strategic investment which was launched five years ago, explained Smith.
Meanwhile, the firm's Birmingham office, which opened in 1999, has recruited its sixth partner this year. Declan Cushley will join the IP team on 1 August 2005 from the in-house team at brewers Molson Coors.
