Brown & Wood LLP grabs three more Brits

US firm Brown & Wood LLP has expanded its UK practice by taking on three UK lawyers within the past two months, including Margaret Boswell, formerly of Allen & Overy, who joins the firm as a securitisation partner.

London-based partner Drew Salvest said the firm, which has the "largest securitisation practice in the world", was looking to pick up a "big chunk of securitisation work in the UK, where the practice is not so well developed".

Brown & Wood's multinational practice approach is client-led and Salvest said the appointment of Boswell would enhance the service to existing clients who needed an English law capability, as well as opening up new markets.

The firm's London practice, which currently has a total of 15 fee-earners including five partners, is due to sign a lease for larger premises at 7 Princes Street this week.

"We will have room for between 30 and 40 lawyers within the year, which are the kinds of numbers we want to have in London, to handle our UK securitisation practice and US mainstream corporate work," said Salvest.

The other recruits are Paul Matthews, also from Allen & Overy, and Michelle Taylor, formerly of Clifford Chance.
