Brodies promotes three and reelects managing partner and chair

Edinburgh-based Jackie McGuire has joined the partnership in the firm’s public sector services group while Glasgow-based Jonathan Cornwell and Manus Quigg have been promoted in the personal injury and construction and engineering groups respectively.

Meanwhile, managing partner Bill Drummond, who has led the firm since 1998, has been returned to the post for a further three-year term while chairman Joyce Cullen has also been handed a further three-year term. Cullen has held the post since 2004.

Drummond said of the new partners: “All combine specialist expertise with a detailed understanding of the sectors they regularly work with – Jackie McGuire is as informed about education as she is about renewable energy; Jonathan Cornwell has investigated and handled insurance claims in every area of personal injury; and Manus Quigg has a terrific in-depth knowledge of the Scottish and UK construction industry.”

McGuire has been with Brodies since December 2007, having previously been head of administration and legal services at Clackmannanshire Council.

Cornwell has also been with the firm since 2007 and has experience of catastrophic injury and public liability cases.

Quigg, who is dual-qualified in Scotland and in England and Wales, specialises in all aspects of construction law. 

Elsewhere, Scotland-headquartered firm Dundas & Wilson has promoted Graeme Young to its partnership.

London-based Young specialises in public procurement, advising a range of public sector and utilities clients on compliance with EU rules.

The firm’s managing partner Donald Shaw said: “Graeme’s a superb practitioner and offers valuable expertise and commercial understanding to our clients in all areas of competition law, and specifically on public procurement issues. This is an extremely well deserved promotion.”
