The firm’s current senior partner Michael Rowles will retire at the start of November but will maintain his links with the firm by acting as a consultant.

Lace is a corporate specialist and has been a partner at Bristows for 30 years. Lace and Rowles both joined the firm in 1974 and both made partner four years later.

Lace said: “Mike’s contribution to the firm in the nearly 35 years that he has been here has been immense. We’re very pleased that he will continue to work with us on a consultative basis.”

Rowles took over the senior partner position after David Brown retired in 2006. IP specialist Brown had become senior partner in 2002.

Rowles said: “I’ve greatly enjoyed my time at Bristows and was honoured to have held the mantle of senior partner.”
