Bird & Bird has lost one of the rising stars of its IT practice to rival Bristows.
Toby Crick, formerly an associate at Bird & Bird, started today at Bristows as a partner. Crick will be working in the commercial IT and outsourcing practice headed by Mark Watts.
“We have been making a concerted effort to grow the IT and outsourcing side of the practice and realised we’d reached a point where we felt confident we could and should invest in this area in a more significant way,” said Watts. “Toby’s arrival is a very visible sign of this.”
Watts added that while Bristows’ non-contentious technology group was best known for advising IT suppliers, Crick’s arrival would signal an increased focus on a customer client base, particular in the financial services sector.

Best to look elsewhere when they can't or won't offer you partnership, and you've broken your back trying to get it. This is an indication that there's no room at the top at Birds - all those ageing partners, whether they're any good or not ? Make room for new and better blood if you ask me.
