Towards a European banking union – the European Commission announces a new legal framework for banking supervision
On 12 September 2012, the European Commission published two proposals which will pave the way towards a European Banking Union. The proposals aim at strengthening the Economic and Monetary Union (“EMU”) and ultimately, providing some stabilisation in the Eurozone.
